Born in Papua New Guinea, Russell moved to New Zealand permanently when he was sixteen.
Russell has written and directed two short films funded by the Screen Innovation Production Fund. ‘Nova’ and ‘Cogito’.
In 2013 Russell moved to China where he lived for three years and learned Mandarin.
In 2015, after meeting his wife and fellow writer, Helen Kirkby, he moved to Los Angeles to pursuit a writing career.
Presently Russell is working on his debut novel, editing his first non-fiction book and submitting spec and lit fic short stories and poetry to a range of markets.
Russell and Helen are also working several projects together and are querying a novel they wrote.
When he is not writing, Russell can be found watching pretentious art films, reading scifi or talking philosophy with his wife.
